How accurate are these rates?
Rates are aggregated daily from open exchange data, including the European Central Bank's reference rates for major currencies. They're a reliable mid-market reference — great for trip budgeting, comparing prices abroad, or checking what something would cost in your home currency.
Don't use them for trading. Banks, money-transfer services and currency exchanges add markups (typically 1–4%) on top of the mid-market rate, so what you actually pay or receive will differ.
Countries that use the US Dollar
Some countries don't issue their own currency and use the US Dollar instead — so if you're going to one of these, you don't need to convert at all (just bring USD):
Ecuador
El Salvador
Panama (alongside the Balboa)
Zimbabwe (multi-currency, USD common)
East Timor
Marshall Islands
Federated States of Micronesia
Palau
British Virgin Islands
Turks & Caicos
Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, Saba, Sint Eustatius)
