Quema del Diablo (Burning of the Devil)
Every household drags accumulated junk into the street, builds a giant devil effigy on top, lights it on fire, and throws fireworks into the flames at 6pm sharp. It's both literal cleaning and spiritual: 'burning the devil' before Virgin Mary's feast on Dec 8.
Practical info
Streets close 5pm. Fire department on standby. The big communal devil burns at the end of Quinta Avenida. Stay upwind β smoke is real.
